The Department of Aerospace Engineering at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) invites prospective candidates for tenure track faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. Applicants from areas including, but not limited to, propulsion, energy, system of systems, avionics with information technology, astronautics and other aerospace-related areas are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have an earned doctoral degree in aerospace engineering or a closely related field. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of the department's and the institute's mission including the development of a strong and relevant externally funded research program, the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses and the supervision of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Applicants must also demonstrate an ability to conduct outstanding research and must show promises for global leadership in their field. General Information KAIST is a prestigious and internationally recognized research-oriented university with exceptionally well qualified students (admitting excellent foreign students and from the top 1% of high school students in Korea), and making best efforts in both education and research areas to play as one of the world-leading universities in science and technology with outstanding vision to solve the problems of mankind such as energy crisis. Salary for new tenure-track faculty is generously commensurate with qualifications and experience. Normal teaching loads are two to three courses per year (6~9 credit hours/year), which is comparable to the typical teaching loads of leading research universities in the world. Financial support for all graduate students, including tuition and stipend, are provided by the university. New tenure-track faculty members are jointly appointed with one of KAIST Institutes, the interdisciplinary research organizations at KAIST. Generous internal grant opportunities are available to seed creative research agendas.
Requirements By the time of employment, candidates must hold or about to earn a PhD degree in relevant disciplines, with an excellent research background and publication record. Strong commitments to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervising graduate studies, and actively developing sponsored research programs. Abilities and willingness to pursue multidisciplinary studies as opportunity allows. Teaching and research experiences, if available.
