❑ Purpose
- In the age of fusion technologies today, it has become difficult to provide effective solutions to real-world complex problems only with analytic thinking.
- It is now necessary to provide education in systems thinking that creatively leads to collaboration between various fields as viewing on the whole, besides analytic thinking to meet contemporary needs of our society.
- In order to educate a leader with integral research ability that is based on the collaboration of diverse fields, it becomes essential to have systematic education that encourages integral thinking as well as design ability through realization of creative collaboration and practicable system design.

Students in Master course with interests in Renaissance Program
❑ Way to apply
▪ Period of application: April 1st – 30th (One month)
▪ Fill in the application form and submit it to Education Innovation Team
▪ Refer to the portal site (https://portal.kaist.ac.kr/) → Bulletin → Student Bulletin
❑ Benefits
A certificate of Renaissance Program is conferred when awarding academic degree; proving that a student has undergone the proper graduate education program focused on system design.

※ If a department has deemed "Collaborative System Design and Engineering" mandatory, it is classified as a mandatory core course of Renaissance Program; however, if it isn't, recognized as an elective course.
* Departments deeming it mandatory: Mathematical Sciences, Graduate School of Nanoscience & Technology, Biological Sciences, Aerospace Eng., Ocean Systems Eng., Civil & Environmental Eng., Industrial Design, Chemical & Biomolecular Eng., Materials Science & Eng., Nuclear & Quantum Eng., Electrical & Electronic Eng., Computer Science, Industrial & Systems Eng., Knowledge Service Eng. Mechanical Eng. (However, only to the students in Renaissance Program.)
▪ In the case of the Departmental Design Project 1 and 2 which are 3 credits respectively, it is supposed to take them two semesters in a row. It is allowed to replace 6 credits (each 3 credit/1 semester) of the Departmental Design Projects by 6 credits (each 3 credit/1 semester) of research course (thesis research) if the department agrees with it.
▪ It is recommended to follow the curriculums as above, and students can take design courses and projects offered by any departments regardless of their own department. It does not matter if the order of taking courses is not the same as above.
▪ The course taken before applying for Renaissance Program could be recognized. (However, only if taken in Spring 2009 or onward.)

- 오늘날 대부분의 융/복합기술은 분석적인 사고만으로는 효과적인 문제해결이 어려워지고 있음.
- Renaissance Program에서는 분석적 사고 외에 여러 분야의 협력을 창의적으로 이끌어 내면서 문제를 통합적으로 보는 시스템사고의 교육이 필요함.
- 여러 분야의 협력과 융합을 전제로 하는 통합적 연구능력을 가진 리더로 양성하기 위해서는 실제적인 시스템의 설계와 창의적인 협력에 의한 구현을 통해서 설계능력과 함께 통합적인 사고를 가지도록 체계적인 교육을 할 필요성이 대두됨.

※ 협력 시스템 설계 교과목을 공통필수로 인정하는 학과에 한하여 Renaissance Program의 공통필수로 인정, 그 외 학과의 소속 학생이 이수시 선택과목으로 인정함.
➢ 공통필수 인정학과 : 수리과학과, 나노과학기술대학원, 생명과학과, 항공우주공학전공, 해양및시스템공학전공, 건설환경공학과, 생명화학공학과, 신소재공학과, 원자력및양자공학과, 전기및전자공학과, 전산학과, 산업및시스템공학과, 지식서비스공학과, 산업디자인학과
* 기계공학전공의 경우 Renaissance Program 참여 학생에 한해서만 공통필수로 인정
▪ 학과 디자인 프로젝트 1과 2는 각 3학점으로 2학기 연속 수강을 원칙으로 하며, 소속학과에서 허용하는 경우 학과 디자인 프로젝트 6학점(각 3학점/1학기)은 소속학과의 연구과목(논문연구) 6학점(각 3학점/1학기)로 대체 가능함.
▪ 위의 교과과정을 따르기를 추천하며, 학과 디자인 과목, 디자인 프로젝트는 전공학과에 한정하지 않고, 원하는 디자인 과목 및 프로젝트를 수강할 수 있음. 교과목 이수 순서는 위와 달라도 관계없음.
▪ Renaissance Program 신청 전에 이수한 교과목도 인정함. (단, 2009학년도 봄학기 이후에 이수한 경우에 한함)
