- Opening Ceremony of Heterogeneous Satellite based ISR Research Center held

The opening ceremony of Heterogeneous Satellite constellation based ISR Research Center (HSRC) led by Prof. Han-Lim Choi in the department was held on Feb. 2, 2023. Many VIPs including Minster of Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) participated in the ceremony and congratulated the initiation of the center.
This center is established to perform fundamental technologies for heterogeneous satellite constellation for ISR missions with budget of 221 Million KRW for six years. Detailed research topics include design and operation of constellation, on-board processing of data & information, spaceborne communication networks, and infrastructure for manufacturing and validation. The center is expected to create innovative research outcomes that overcome the limitation of homogeneous satellite constellations.
While KAIST is the leading institute of the center, a total of 14 universities and 4 companies participate in the center.
