In high mobility communication environments involving 3D mobility, such as non terrestrial networks, conventional terrestrial OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) transmission schemes suffer significant performance degradation due to severe Doppler spread caused by high mobility and power amplifier nonlinearities resulting from the size and weight constraints of aerial and space platforms. To address these challenges, Ph.D. candidate Sihwan Kim and Prof. Jihwan Choi of the ACAI Lab recently proposed a waveform design method that integrates DFT precoding and a filter bank structure into an OTFS (Orthogonal Time-Frequency Space) modulation scheme. This work has been published in IEEE Wireless Communications Letters (impact factor: 5.9), an international journal in the fields of electrical engineering and communications.
