Professor Dong-Hyuk Shin conducted joint research with Queen’s University and University of Toronto in Canada, and the Romanian Gas Turbine Research Institute (COMOTI), and published the results in the Journal of Fluid Mechanics. In this study, an understanding of the behavior of turbulent jets was presented through horseshoe-like vortices and very-large-scale motions (VLMS) using a high-precision direct numerical simulation technique. Turbulent jets have a wide range of applications as basic flows in various fields such as fuel injection, volcanic eruption, and air ventilation. Also, JFM, created in 1956, is the world's most prominent journal in the field of fluid mechanics.
