In September 2024, Senior Engineer Park Seong-jong from Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. was selected as the recipient of the Engineer of the Year Award in South Korea.

Engineer Park is a former student of Professor Lee In at KAIST's Department of Aerospace Engineering, having graduated with a Bachelor's degree in 2002 and a Master's degree in 2004.

He established a performance-enhancing muffler product line, improving performance by 30 to 50% compared to existing products. Additionally, he successfully localized advanced technology mufflers that can operate in extreme environments, such as at -52 °C or over 600 °C.
