This paper presents a study on the design and optimization of a multilayer radar absorbing structure (RAS) with square convex surfaces that effectively absorb obliquely incident electromagnetic waves, utilizing continuous fiber 3D printing technology. The study analyzes the impact of changes in the distribution of pores within the structure, which occur during the 3D printing process, on the electromagnetic properties, and applies a "process permittivity correction method" to optimize the design. The EM wave absorption performance of the 3D-printed RAS was measured, confirming a high consistency between the designed performance and the actual measured performance of the fabricated RAS. This strong correlation demonstrates that the proposed correction method effectively compensates for the changes in electromagnetic properties of the 3D-printed structures.
This study is expected to make a significant contribution to the design and fabrication of electromagnetic performance structures using 3D printing technology by proposing a method to compensate for performance discrepancies between the design and fabrication of 3D-printed radar absorbing structures. This paper is scheduled to be published in the 2024 issue of the Journal of Sandwich Structures and Materials. The Journal of Sandwich Structures and Materials is an academic journal that covers the design, manufacturing, characterization, and applications of sandwich structures and composite materials, focusing on the latest research and technological advancements in the field. (Mechanical Field JCI Q1 18.06%).
