The 18th Annual KAIST Cho, Jeong-Hun Academic Award ceremonry was held on May 13, 2022 at 11am. Professor Shin, Hyo-Sang of Cranfield University, Kim, Kyu-Seop, a Ph.D. candidate in KAIST Aerospace Engineering (AE), Jang, Keon-Hee, a M.S. candidate in Mechanical Engineering from Korea University, and Jang, Jae-Woo from Kongju National University High School were named this year's awardees.
The event was attended by Professor Han, Jae-hung, Chairman of Future Development, Professor Kwon, Se-Jin, Head of Award Committee, and Professor Lee, Jung-Ryul, Head of AE department. Professor Cho, Dong-Gil, the father of the late Cho, Jung-Hoon and the sixteenth awardee, Professor Cho, Dong-Hyun also attended the ceremony. Among awardees, Professor Shin, Hyo-Sang published 66 SCI papers, 70 conference papers, and two domestic and international patents in the field of flight control and guidance.
The KAIST Cho, Jeong-Hun Academic Award was established in May 2003 to honor the late Cho, Jeong-Hun, who passed away in an accident. Since 2005, the award is given to young scientists who have conducted outstanding research in aerospace engineering. The awardees receive scholarships up to 25 million won, 4 million won (for undergraduate and graduate students) and 3 million won (for high school students).
