- Selection for the National Research Foundation of Korea’s Mid-Career Researcher Program

In March 2025, KAIST Nonequilibrium Gas and Plasma Dynamics Lab (KNGPDL), led by Professor Eunji Jun, was selected for the Mid-Career Researcher Program supported by the National Research Foundation of Korea. This selection recognizes the KNGPDL’s achievements from the previous mid-career research project (March 2022 to February 2025), titled “Development of Particle Simulation Algorithm for Hypersonic Flow around Re-entry Vehicle.” The follow-up project, entitled “Development of Particle-Based Numerical Methods for Hypersonic Polyatomic Gas Mixtures with Chemical Reactions,” will receive approximately 673.7 million KRW in research funding over the next three years. This research is expected to become a core aerodynamic technology in South Korea, facilitating the design and thermal-aerodynamic analysis of reentry vehicles.
